MoHR in collaboration with the Ministry of Religious Affairs, commemorated National Minority Day at the Presidency. President Asif Ali Zardari was the Chief Guest at the event, which was attended by parliamentarians, senators, federal ministers, civil society members, diplomats, ambassadors and representatives from various faiths and communities, including Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Parsi, and Bahá'í.
In his address, Federal Minister for Human Rights, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, highlighted that minorities have played an invaluable and proud role in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan, contributing in public service, education, health, defence, arts, and trade. He underscored that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees equal rights and complete religious freedom to all citizens, irrespective of religion, caste, or creed. He also reaffirmed that the government, under the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, remains fully committed to protecting and empowering minority communities, with the entire national leadership united in fostering an environment of mutual respect, harmony, and unity, ensuring that diversity remains a source of strength for the nation.
