On 12th March, 2026, Pakistan’s Initial Report under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), prepared by Ministry of Human Rights, Pakistan, was reviewed. In his remarks, Pakistan’s Head of Delegation, Permanent Representative Ambassador outlined Pakistan’s efforts to:

Strengthen legislative and policy frameworks to protect and promote the rights of persons with disabilities;

 Advance accessibility and inclusive infrastructure across public spaces, services, and transport;

 Promote inclusive education and skills development to enhance opportunities for persons with disabilities;

 Expand employment initiatives and financial inclusion to support economic empowerment and independence;

 Strengthen social protection measures and community-based support systems;

Enhance greater awareness, participation, and inclusion of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society.

Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to maintain constructive engagement with the CRPD Committee to further advance its agenda regarding persons with disabilities.
